Village Association (SVA)

Shotesham Village Association (SVA)

The Association was formed, with its constitution, in 1999 in preparation for the Millennium celebrations, which included the publication of four village-related books and the Heritage Trail, supported by initial external funding. Previously there was a tradition of holding a Village Festival over a weekend once every four years.

It is a community self supporting organisation which exists to promote and organise events in Shotesham with the main aims of encouraging residents of all ages in the village to come together as a community, to have fun and meet each other, and to foster an interest in the arts, and in the local countryside.

To meet these aims, the Association has organised a variety of events each year, including fetes, art and other craft exhibitions and workshops, barn dances, village revue shows, film nights, suppers and nature walks and not forgetting the famous ‘Tour De Shotesham’ cycle ride. We are always open to ideas for new events as we would like everyone in the village to feel included.

The Garden, Conservation and Camera groups and the popular Saturday markets also come under the Association banner.

Although all SVA events and activities are open to everyone we encourage residents of the village to become members of the Association at an annual subscription of £3.

The Association is managed by a voluntary Executive Committee, which is elected annually at the AGM.

Like all community groups we depend on volunteers, not just for the committee; we welcome any help you are able to offer.

If you would like to get involved, or have suggestions of events you would like to see happen, please contact Bernie Fenn (558407)  or use the contact form below.
