Heritage 38 Falgate Farm

No 38                             Falgate Farm

Thought to have been built in the late 16th century, the property was originally two timber framed cottages.

In the 19th century, access to the common was subject to a local toll and Falgate or Foldgate as it was known in those days was one of the toll gates.

The property was owned by the Shotesham Estate and sold in the1920s to a neighboring landowner who put in a tenant and the site was used as a smallholding and market garden growing vegetable crops.  The property changed hands in 1997 and the present owner has undertaken considerable renovation work.
