PC Mtg – 13/8/24

SHOTESHAM PARISH COUNCIL.
Becmead, Shotesham St Mary, NR15 1UJ     01508550358     shoteshampc.clerk@outlook.com

Minutes of the meeting of Shotesham Parish Council held in the Trinity at 7.30 pm on 13th of August 2024

  1. Apologies received from Jon Nott, Henry Walker and DC John Cook.
  2. The minutes of the parish council meeting of the 17th of July were approved and signed by the chairman.
  3. Mobile phone reception in the village

A full discussion was held. Everyone agreed that the quality of mobile signal across the whole village was not up to expected 2024 standards.

Jim Weber agreed to develop an ‘emailable’ survey to share across the village  and through contacts/notices boards etc. This would do two things. Firstly, to allow everyone an opportunity to make a comment and secondly to gather unchallengeable data for onward transmission to the mobile signal companies.

  1. Dog-bin at St Mary’s

The Dog bin has been installed at St Mary’s. Thanks were expressed to Jon Nott and John Torbitt. It will be monitored for a few weeks before engaging the Council to regularly clearing it along with other 4 in the village.

  1. Shotesham in Bloom

Kim Dyke explained that the decision has been made re bulbs that would best naturalised, when planted, within the village. It hoped that there will be a ‘village’ planting day later in the year .. with wide involvement of villagers

  1. Update of CPR training and usage of the defibrillator.
The event will be held on Saturday November 9th at the Trinity.

There will be 3 sessions of 1 hour each. No more than 20 people are allowed in each session. All places must be pre-booked. Kim and Heather will ensure a clear statement will be placed in contact and through the usual contactsl

  1. Fibre broadband …currently Giga clear.

It appears that the majority of the disturbances caused by Giga Clear are over. On 12th September they will place an ’information Van’ in the village to allow people to pop in to gather general information and seek answers to any specific question they have. The site has yet to be agreed….the ‘bright-orange’ vehicle will be very obvious .

  1. The clerk reported on the computer ‘glitch’ which has cause serious difficulties that have lead to the loss of the original village email address

The new address is ……………  shoteshampc.clerk@outlook.com

The day was saved by the remote help of Mr David Lee from Belmont Nr Bolton…a past university friend of the clerk. The Chairman asked that her and the whole parish council’s appreciation be passed to him.

Jeff Gough. The Clerk
