Minutes of the meeting of Shotesham Parish Council held in the Trinity at 7.30 pm on 19th of November 2024
- 1. Apologies for absence were received from K Dyke and A Thomas.
- The chairman Heather Jackson gave up the chairmanship of the meeting to Jon Nott the vice chairman. Heather explained she wanted to declare her interest in the third item on the agenda The East Pye Solar Farm’.
- 2. Planning Application …2024/3263
It was noted that a track had existed in the current place but had been unused for many years. After a brief discussion the application was ‘supported’.
- 3. The Norfolk Armed Forces Covenant Commonwealth Fund is offering grants of up to £500 to organisations celebrating or commemorating the 80thanniversary of VE Day and VJ Day next year. The PC decided not to make an application but noted other organisations may apply.
NB (applications close on 9 /12/24).
- 4. The East Pye Solar Farm was discussed in some considerable detail, with strong participation from other members of the Parish. After considerable and intense discussion all the councillors readily agreed that they should be directly involved as a Parish Council, although the council is not opposed to the principle of solar farms. Discussions will now be held with the local action group to see what help can be given to coordinate action to object to the scheme. The clerk will contact the other parishes involved in the East Pye scheme to advise of the above decision.
“The Parish Council agreed to respond to the current consultation voicing its concerns about the impact of this project, the unacceptable and inappropriate nature of Site 8 for solar power, and the unacceptable impact that solar panels at Site 8 would have on all those living within sight of the area and those enjoying this beautiful and tranquil area for quiet recreation.”
The agreed input into the East Pye consultation document, to be sent as soon as possible, will read as follows…
Shotesham Parish Council unanimously decided to oppose the East Pye Solar proposal because the project is of such a huge scale it is totally unacceptable, and no amount of mitigation could ever possibly compensate for the damage that a solar array scheme of this size would cause.
- 5. CPR session held at the Trinity was unanimously agreed to have been a great success.
Out of the meeting …One group of villagers have already set up a ‘healthwatch’ group who can be called on at any time if any neighbours find themselves needing urgent help.
Kim Dyke, who coordinated the session, sent a report to be shared as she was unavoidably absent.
‘Great thanks to Simone Black from East Anglia Air Ambulance for a real good useful training session I have received several emails saying how helpful parishioners found it. I have prepared a synopsis to be put in Contact with a few take home points for the next issue.
The defib as Slim says is registered with the appropriate authorities and the code will only be given out by the call handler when 999 is rung.
I will be organising a further session next year.’
The meeting closed.
The next meeting will be held on the 10th of December
Jeff Gough. The Clerk
