MINUTES of SHOTESHAM PARISH COUNCIL.

Minutes of the meeting of Shotesham Parish Council held in the Trinity at 7.30pm on Tuesday  February 18th 2025.

  1. Apologies for absence were received from DC John Cook, Slim Dinsdale and Henry Walker. CC Alison Thomas and Jason Crawley of the village attended.
  2. The minutes of Tuesday 10th of December were signed as a correct record.
  3. The introduction of ‘gates’ at the entrance to the village. I) It was advised by our CC Alison Thomas to make contact the Highways Department as they would be able to offer guidance of where such items could/or could not be installed on roadside as one ‘enters the village’.
  4. ii) The clerk will investigate the potential cost and report back to the next meeting.
  5. The ‘temporary’ closure of The Mill Ford. CC Alison Thomas gave a full explanation of the current position. The safety of all fords in Norfolk have been assessed. Once any specific information is available it will be share with the PC. In the meanwhile the ford will remain closed.
  6. The future creation of unitary authorities in Norfolk.
  • CC Alison Thomas gave a brief, interesting outline of the future creation of Unitary Authorities within Norfolk [ 1, 2, or 3 might be possible].

  1. Finances….An update to February 8th.had been previously shared with the members. The next financial update will be a’ year-end’ statement prior to Audit.
  2. Members discussed their unhappiness with Giga Clear ..re unacceptable use of poles to cross the bec. The PC and Commons Trustees held an impromptu meeting with area personnel. It was indicated the steps would be taken to reroute the cable underground by crossing the bec in a ‘pipe’…thus allowing the poles to be removed.

The PC will contact Giga clear to see if any such steps are being planned/taken!!.

  1. The parish’s interaction with the East Pye Solar Farm proposal through its consultation process. The document is available on the East Pye Website.
  2. Following the successful purchase and installation of a second defibrillator a second training day will be organised… re CPR and use of Defibrillator.

The defibrillator has been site on the outside of The Trinty garages which achieves both ease of access 24 hours per day and illumination at night.

Grateful thanks were expressed for DC john Cook in funding the purchase and The Mercers for allowing its placement and facilitating its connection to the necessary power supply

  1. Planning Application..Hanser House 2024/3733.

The application was unanimously supported. Though not in the ‘conservation area’ it was hoped  the tree screen would  be protected/enhanced
